Coming soon - DigiBete

A new digital offer for children and young people with type 1 diabetes is coming soon to Greater Manchester.

What is DigiBete?

DigiBete is a video web platform and app designed to help support children, young people and families self-manage their own type 1 diabetes by extending the reach of clinical teams online. The app is recommended for use with young people from age 0-25 years, with support from a parent or carer if required.

DigiBete offer digital education, awareness, training and support to patients and families living with Type 1 Diabetes, which complements and extends clinical care and assists self-management, allowing them to share videos and educational resources about their condition.

Resources cover sports and exercise, insulin pumps and technology, emotional wellbeing, school/college education, issues specific to teenagers, healthy eating and carbohydrate counting and guidance on diabetes management, such as sick day rules. The DigiBete app allows you to favourite the films most useful and save them to your smart phone or tablet.

What else does the app offer?

The app can be used to store important personalised information relating to self-management which can be accessed at any time. You can store insulin ratios/doses and pump settings, add appointments, and receive regular updates from their clinic through the communication feature, clinics can send reminders to download data about clinic appointments, invite individuals to peer support events and keep them up to date with newsletters etc, at no additional cost.

Who can use the app?

The app offers a multi-user account function. It can be installed on up to six devices meaning that the child or young person and other members of the family can access the same information from their healthcare team, and notifications and reminders are received. This means that all people responsible for the safety and care of the young person can see the same information relating to their personalised care.
